The Patience to Follow

Learning to wait on God's timing is a life-skill that I am still working on.  Some days I do better than others.

In one business I worked in for years, their unofficial motto was, "DO something, even if it's wrong."  They equated waiting with sitting around doing nothing.

We are like that sometimes.  We think DOing something is proactive; but that waiting is passive.

But waiting on God is not passive - it is active.  Faith in action is often found by waiting on God.  Trust-building is often found by waiting on God.  Good news sharing is often obtained by waiting on God.

Faith in action ....
Trust building ...
Good news sharing ...

All these are active reflections of our walk with God.  Waiting on Him is hard work, but He rewards those who willingly do such labor in trust and faith.

I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.

  1. Hi Marsha

Waiting on God is often difficult for Christians living in our "give it to me now" society. God wants what's best for His children, so it's always worth the wait :-)

Take care and have a nice day :-)

  2. Hi Marsha,

In this last month the Lord revealed to me through his word, that I was experiencing a kind of spiritual exhaustion because I was stepping ahead of him, and although my heart was set on sharing His word, I was not waiting on His timing, and although my intentions were to honor Him, I was acting on my own strength, and impatience which eventually exhausted me. Your post is a great reminder for me to make an effort to focus on waiting on the Lord, one day at a time.

    God bless,
    Michele

  3. oh yes... this is a subject I am very familiar with! I have found that the deepest things I''ve learned about God, came from waiting, learning to trust, and pretty much always... not on my time table! :)

  4. Ohhh yes . . . this is quite a road, but so thankful how much God teaches us through the waiting . . . and the revelation afterwards. Thanks so much for sharing!

  5. Equating "waiting" with "laboring" is good food for thought. It really is true. We do toil while we wait. Good thoughts here!

  6. Oh yes, waiting on Him is HARD WORK! I tend to want to move more quickly and feel like if I don't do something ...I'm being lazy. But that's not true. A good friend of mine always says that life's challenges are opportunities to learn to trust God. And I'm learning that it must be according to His time and His way and not mine. I just tend to mess things up. :)

    Blessings and love to you,
    Debbie
